ec-H2O™ Chemical Free Cleaning Technology Now Available in Hand-Held Spray Device
Environmental-friendly cleaning just got a little easier. Tennant Company’s award-winning ec-H2O™ technology, which transforms water into a powerful cleaner, is now available in a hand-held spray device. This new application of Tennant’s electrically converted water is made possible by the company’s exclusive licensing agreement of the technology for use in hand-held spray applications with Activeion Cleaning Solutions, LLC. Activeion’s first product under the license is the Activeion™ Pro: a portable, easy-to-use sprayer that is effective on a range of surfaces from glass and stainless, to wood and carpet. The partnership between Tennant Company and Activeion will expand the reach of the sprayer into the education, retail, hospitality, and health care industries.

“Tennant Company is an innovation leader in the cleaning industry and we look forward to extending Tennant’s breakthrough ec-H2O™ technology into new markets and applications,” says Activeion CEO Jim Wiese. “We are working together to expand and improve this technology under our partnership.”
Tennant CEO, Chris Killingstad, believes that the partnership will broaden the market availability and expansion of Tennant’s award-winning cleaning technology. “Our aim is for the ec-H2O™ platform to become a significant part of our business. Through this alliance with Activeion, complementary products are added to the suite of ec-H2O™ solutions, thereby making this revolutionary cleaning technology available to more customers and complementing Tennant’s core cleaning products such as automated scrubbers. Broader availability will increase awareness of the significant safety, cost efficiency, cleaning efficacy and environmental benefits of this technology.”
Named by R&D magazine as one of the most technologically significant developments of 2008, ec-H2O™ was developed by Tennant to clean with only water and without the environmental and health concerns associated with producing, packaging, transporting, using and disposing of traditional cleaning detergents.
“ec-H2O™ is a category-changing advancement for the cleaning industry,” says Killingstad. “Tennant is first-to-market in our industry and together with Activeion; we will continue to promote its market adoption.”
“The benefits from this first product, the Activeion™ Pro, are dramatic,” continues Wiese. “Its activated water cleaning process can eliminate most general purpose cleaning products thereby providing health and safety benefits to custodial staff and building occupants. The economic benefits are just as compelling with a
payback in as little as three months—welcome news in the current economic climate. However, the most stunning benefit of the Activeion™ Pro is in the environmental area. Compared to cleaning with traditional chemical detergents, which must be produced, transported and mitigated in the waste stream, the Activeion™ Pro delivers a greater than 97 percent benefit across seven key indicators tied to environmental sustainability.”
According to Weise in addition to the spray bottle version, other ec-H2O™ applications are in consideration at Activeion. “It’s our mission to bring ec-H2O™ technology to as wide an audience as possible, as fast as we can. We hope to assist in the rapid acceptance of the revolutionary ec-H2O™ cleaning technology, invented by our partners at Tennant and enhanced through our partnership.”
